Member Profiles
Suburban Bowhunter members are all highly experienced bowhunters with an average of over 20 years hunting deer with bow and arrow. Suburban Bowhunters have all taken required education training classes such as the Missouri’s Bowhunter Education Certification course, given by the Missouri Conservation Department.
We take safety and harvest effectiveness seriously. In Addition to required classes, we do extensive training and practice many hours individually. And we present our own yearly training on safety, education with a plan for the upcoming season. Attending is mandatory for all members every year.
Suburban Bowhunters abide by a strict set of rules:
- We purchase our own liability insurance so the landowner won’t be responsible for accidents.
- We get bow hunter education certified.
- We practice with our equipment extensively to assure quick harvests.
- We offer to help maintain the property.
- We share the venison we harvested with the property owner as well as Share the Harvest.
- We take time to minimize deer damage.
- We never invite friends to hunt.
- Only one hunter will hunt a location each year unless approved by the property owner and Suburban Bowhunter leadership.
- If the homeowner or his family would like to learn to hunt, we would train them to the best of our abilities.
When Hunting in an Urban Areas:
- We always remember, our actions will influence perceptions of hunting and hunters.
- We are always ethical, limit our shooting yardage, we don’t trespass, and treat the land and the landowner with the utmost respect.
- We are discreet and mindful of where we place our tree stand and where we park; cover our deer with a tarp when hauling it from our stand to our vehicle.
- We always clean our deer in an appropriate place and never leave a gut pile.
- We always carry written permission from the landowner while we are hunting.
